NYCHS Student Program
The Industry Scholars Program supports NYC high school students in advancing their education and career aspirations through valuable work based learning activities.
ISP brings together
four program components.
Work Readiness Training & Support
Students participate in trainings to prepare for their internship prior to the start date and will receive support throughout the program.
Full-time Internships
Students are placed in internships at a variety of companies aligned with their field of study.
Credentialing opportunities
Upon completion of the program, students may be eligible for school credit and a CTE endorsed diploma
Future employment opportunities
Students graduating with internship experiences, are more likely than students without those experiences to find employment upon graduation.
ISP helps students become stronger college and job candidates.
Work in a paid internship opportunity at a company in the students’ CTE field of study, earn the NYS minimum hourly wage for 150 hours, this summer. Students must complete employment verification to participate. Gain exposure to careers and strengthen your professional network in these fields. Develop technical and employability skills for career success. The summer session will begin on Monday July 11th and conclude on Friday August 19th.

ISP has high expectations for our students.
Students must fully commit to:
- Participation in a work readiness training and orientation prior to their internship start.
- Working the complete schedule, arriving on time to their internships, and submission of regular timesheets.
- Signing the training plan and completion of all evaluations
- Completing the internship in its entirety.

FAQ
Where do I fill out the application?
Complete the application on participants.careerpathways.nyc! You will need to have a complete profile in order to apply for the ISP program. Here are instructions on how to sign the application.
How many hours can I work in total? How many hours can I work a week?
You may work no more than 60 hours in total. You can work a maximum of 15 hours per week.
Can I work more than 150 hours?
No, the maximum number of hours you can work this summer is 150.
How much will I be paid?
You will be paid $15/hour for a maximum of 150 hours during summer sessions
Do I have to be I-9 Verified?
Yes, you have to be I-9 verified to participate in CTE ISP internships.
Can I bring copies of my documents to my I-9 Verification?
No, all of your documents have to be original versions. Also, pictures of the originals will not be accepted.
When will I be paid?
You will be paid every two weeks on Fridays.
When will I receive my payroll card?
You will receive your payroll card 10 -17 days after you are enrolled into the program. Make sure that your address on participants.ctetracking.org is correct so you can receive your card ASAP. If you are signed up for direct deposit you will not receive a payroll card.
What will I be doing during my internship?
There is no way to say exactly what you will be doing since students will be matched to different employers across the eight industry sectors we partner with. The objective is for students to have the opportunity to apply the CTE skills and information gained in the classroom and learn from professionals in their industry. Internships will be either virtual or in person for selected industries and students should expect to have tasks assigned to them, attend meetings, and meet various staff members from the organization.

There is no way to tell you beforehand because we work with hundreds of students and employers, but the hope is that you will be matched with an incredible employer!
